VALUES
“A value is a way of being or believing that we hold most important. Living into our values means that we do more than profess our values, we practice them. We walk our talk - we are clear about what we believe and hold important, and we take care that our intentions, words, thoughts, and behaviors align with those beliefs.”
— Brené Brown, Dare to Lead
Understanding our values can help us make clear decisions, show up authentically in relationships, and hold boundaries that honor our needs and intentions. Values are the map from which we relate to ourselves and the world around us at any given moment. When we know who we are and what we care about, it is easier to be confident in our yes’s and no’s. Incorporating values-based work into therapy creates a sense of accountability and clarity, allowing us to deepen into the heart of the matter with more awareness.
